Connie Harvey is an Oakland-based designer and artist. His artistic practice references abstraction found in architecture and Afro-minimalism—through geometric shapes, color tonality, and objects from nature. The results create a simple yet bold aesthetic that forms its own unique language.
He began this series of abstract color explorations and geometric shapes while taking a painting course at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he also taught an undergraduate visual design class. Harvey has partnered with The Aesthetic Union, a letterpress print shop based in San Francisco, CA, to translate his paintings into a well-crafted, limited letterpress series.
Harvey received a BA in Liberal Arts from Virginia Tech and an MFA in Graphic Design from Rochester Institute of Technology. He attended summer design workshops at the Basel Academy of Art and Design, FHNW, in Basel, Switzerland.
